The state of Rhineland-Palatinate attaches great importance to the protection of your personal data. We have therefore taken technical and organizational measures to ensure that the rules on data protection are observed.

Legal Basis

GeoPortal.rlp operated by the state of Rhineland-Palatinate is used to implement the requirements of the Land Geodata Infrastructure Act (LGDIG) and the Land Transparency Act (LTranspG) in the applicable versions; LGDIG implements the EU INSPIRE directive for Rhineland-Palatinate.

The state of Rhineland-Palatinate offers with GeoPortal.rlp telemedia (information and communication services). This portal is thus subject to the provisions of the Telemedia Act (TMG) in the currently applicable version. Incidentally, the Land Data Protection Act of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate (LDSG), as amended, in conjunction with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (DSGVO), as amended, shall apply. When using geodata, the legal basis of the State Geodata Infrastructure Act of Rhineland-Palatinate (LGDIG) of the most recent version is used.

When processing personal data, article 6 DSGVO together with article 3 LDSG for the application scenarios described there as a legislative basis.

Data Collection

The use of the service portal GeoPortal.rlp is basically possible without providing personal data. Personal data is individual information about personal or material circumstances of a specific or identifiable natural person, so in particular data that are associated with the name or in connection a direct personal reference can be produced. Every time you access our servers, data is stored for statistical purposes.

The following data is recorded:

  • date and time of the request,
  • the client software of the requesting computer ( usually the browser type and the desired access method / function),
  • the transmitted input values (eg: the target file),
  • the access status of the web server (eg: transfer file, file not found, command not executed) and the name of the requested file.

To improve our internet service, these data are evaluated in anonymous form.

Due to the technical conditions, the application is not aware of any IP addresses of users. The IP adresses will therefore not be processed further.

GeoPortal.rlp allows you to register. This provides an extended range of functions. Possibilities include saving and managing search and selection results, user-specific settings as well as capturing and changing your own geodata (digitizing function).

The following information is required:

  • username (freely selectable)
  • E-mail address

You can voluntarily save further personal information (for example about your organization etc.) in your profile. This information is used exclusively for applications for the activation of restricted services or for billing purposes.

The personal data collected during registration will only be used internally, will not be disclosed to third parties and will be subject to the relevant data protection provisions mentioned above. Therefore there's no transfer to third parties for commercial or other purposes.

In your profile, you also have the opportunity to agree that your e-mail address may be used to participate in surveys to further development of GeoPortal.rlp and Geodata Infrastructure Rhineland-Palatinate (GDI-RP). Such surveys are carried out periodically every few years and serve the quality assurance as well as the sustainable operation of the GDI-RP. You can deactivate this at any time in your profile.

In addition, you have the opportunity to subscribe to a newsletter as a registered user. However, you only receive this if you actively set the appropriate setting for receiving the newsletter in your profile. There, you can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time.

As a user of GeoPortal.rlp you can delete your profile at any time. But this is only possible if no personal access logs or extended permissions are associated with your user account. If such information exists, you will be notified, and you may contact the service providers to have existing roles and logs deleted by them.

Maintenance of data secrecy

Both the employees of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate entrusted with the processing of personal data and the employees of the companies commissioned by the state are obliged to maintain data secrecy. Appropriate technical and organizational measures have been taken so that the regulations on data protection are also observed by external service providers.
