zwischen Obermehlen und Kirchenberg Litzemehlenbach und seine Quellbäche entwässern die überwiegend bewaldete südöstliche Hangflanke des Schneifelhöhenrückens im Bereich Wirbelkopf, Eichendell und Kirchen-Berg N von Obermehlen (SO Wintersportanlage Zum Schwarzen Mann). International bedeutsames Mittelgebirgsbach- und Quellbachsystem mit typisch ausgeprägten bachbegleitenden Erlengaleriebeständen sowie Nass- und Feuchtgrünland(-brachen). Auf den schmalen Talsohlen der Bäche liegen,wenn nicht mit Fichten bestockt, zahlreiche bodensaure Binsensümpfe, Nassbrachen und vereinzelt Quellmoorreste. Einige kleinere Erlenbruchwaldreste liegen im Quellgebiet am Kirchberg östlich der Wintersportanlage;.südlich davon relativ großflächige naturnahe Buchenmischwälder. Insgesamt dominiert jedoch Nadelholzforst. Teilgebiet des Buchenwald-, Quellmoor- und Bruchwaldbiotopsystems im FFH Schneifel von internationaler Bedeutung. Als Biotopverbundachse von der Schneifel über den Alfbach bis zur Prüm spielt der Litzemehlenbach eine zentrale Rolle.
