Auf der großen Rheinschleife zwischen Filsen und Osterspai erstreckt sich auf dem Gleithang des Rheins ein großflächiges Gebiet mit (Streu-)obstwiesen unterschiedlichster Nutzungsintensität. Aufgrund der kleinflächig ausgebildeten Flurstücke kommt es auf kleinstem Raum zu verschiedenen Nutzungsformen. So sind neben schützenswerten Streuobstwiesen und ihrer Brachestadien, auch Obstplantagen und andere intensive Nutzungsformen zu finden. Nur in Teilbereichen findet traditionelle Weiden- bzw. Wiesennutzung statt. Ein größerer zusammenhängender Komplex aus Streuobstgartenbrachen befindet sich im östlichen Bereich. Neben sehr alten, teils abgestorbenen Obstbäumen, haben sich Baumarten wie Eiche und Hainbuche etabliert. Zudem liegt eine dichte Strauchschicht vor. Insgesamt handelt es sich um einen äußerst strukturreichen Komplex mit hohem Anteil an Altbäumen und Relikten kulturhistorischer Landnutzungsformen. Der Fläche kommt insbesondere Bedeutung für Hecken- und Höhlenbrüter zu.
