An zahlreichen Stellen bestehen xerotherme Vegationskomplexe mit Felsen, Felsgebüschen und Silikathalbtrockenrasen. An kleinen Verebnungen mit Lößauflage kommen zudem Halbtrockenrasen mit mehreren Orchideenarten (u. a. Orchis militaris, Aceras anthropophorum) vor. Die Hänge sind meist mit Eichen- und Eichen-Hainbuchenwäldern bestockt, sehr lokal sind Schluchtwald-Fragmente, wärmeliebende Traubeneichenwälder und Buchenwälder entwickelt. Die Nette ist meist naturnah ausgebildet, lokal bestehen Uferbefestigungen. Mit integriert wurde auch das Gelände der Ruine Wernerseck, da hier zahlreiche gefährdete Arten (u. a. Pulsatilla vulgaris, Medicago minima) vorkommen. Das abgegrenzte BK ist sowohl floristisch als auch faunistisch sehr bedeutsam (Eisvogel, Spergula pentandra, Aceras anthropophorum, Dictamnus albus).
