NAS
The Norm-based Exchange Interface (Normbasierte Austauschschnittstelle, NAS) was conceived for the feature-structured exchange of AAA features and is based on the OGC standard GML. NAS is scheduled to replace the Uniform Database Interface (Einheitliche Datenbankschnittstelle, EDBS).
National Geo Database
The core element of a geo database infrastructure made up of geo reference data, geo specialist data and metadata.
National park
National parks meet the same prerequisites that were defined for nature reserves. Yet, they are larger in size and are classified for protection and conservation on the basis of their endangered species and inherent specificities.
Natura2000
Natura2000 is a cross-country, pan-European network of conservation areas.
Nature conservation
Rare and endangered biotopes and animal species as well as specific cultural sights are subjected to specific conservation measures in Europe.
Nature conservation area
Within a nature conservation area, nature and landscapes are protected either in their integrity or in part. In either case, directives are issued to provide specifications and restrictions on an individual basis.
Nature park
A nature park is a large-sized area which enjoys varying degrees of protection (nature conservation, area of outstanding beauty or protected landscape elements).
Network
As a rule, a network refers to a computer network within which data are exchanged. By this token, key networks are LANs that share the same hardware and software systems as well as the internet which can be described as a network consisting of networks.
NivP
Levelling points (Nivellementpunkte, NivP) form the basis for hypsometries.
Normal height
Normal height denotes the height above the quasi geoid.
